Major Power Outages Across Cowichan Valley Sunday

Parts of the Cowichan Valley will experience a black out for 11 hours on Sunday, as BC Hydro plans power outages to complete some major upgrades to their equipment. More than 4-thousand homes will be affected.
BC Hydro Spokesperson Ted Olynyk says it’s a big job, and crews are coming from across the province to provide efficient service.
About 3600 homes in Lake Cowichan, Mesachie Lake, Youbou, Honeymoon Bay and surrounding areas will be left in the dark.
720 North Cowichan homes from Limerick Road north to Johnston Road and Somenos Road west to North Road and Moorfield Road, and Cowichan Lake Rd from Sumas Rd to just west of Evans Rd and adjacent streets will also be affected.
38 homes in Duncan between 3828 and 4245 Sahtlam Rd will also experience power outages.
Olynyk says Lake Cowichan is at the end of the transmission line, so they are not able to isolate the areas they are working on. The outages are planned for between 8am and 7pm this Sunday.
