Marmots didn’t fair so well

The Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation says it was a bad winter for the marmots in Strathcona Park.

36 marmots died over the winter, with a number of marmots still unaccounted for.

Foundation Executive Director Adam Taylor says that works out to about half the population in Strathcona Park…

Taylor says staff are on the ground, working to confirm why the marmots did not survive.

He says the good news is the populations on Mount Washington and in the Nanaimo lakes area are doing well.
