RCMP Asking For Witnesses in Malahat Crash

Local RCMP are asking for anyone who witnessed a crash on the Malahat on Thursday morning to come forward.

 Mounties believe the 41 year old female driver of a southbound pick up truck lost control on the highway and slid into an oncoming traffic colliding head on with another pick up truck.
The Shawnigan Lake woman is currently being treated in Victoria General Hospital in critical condition. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
The collision happened just north of Split Rock View around 8am, closing the highway in both directions for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing – if you have any information on the incident, contact the South Island Traffic Unit.
