A group of concerned residents will be gathering by a tree in the Island Savings Centre tomorrow morning, as construction begins to restructure the parking lot at the west entrance of the building.
Seairra Courtemanche is passionate about keeping the tree alive and standing.
Courtemanche says they have already collected over 300 signatures from concerned members of the community who want the tree to stay.
North Cowichan Mayor Jon Lefebure says the tree was identified as a “danger tree” by an arborist.
Lefebure says there will be lots of opportunity to plant new trees when the new design is complete.
