Cowichan Students Participate in Mind Over Metal Camp

The Canadian Welding Association has donated 20 thousand dollars to fund two welding summer camps for Cowichan Valley students.
The VIU Cowichan Trades Centre is hosting the “Mind Over Metal” one-week camps for students between 12 and 15, in hopes to encourage careers in welding. Chair of VIU’s welding program Mike Hallam says students get hands-on experience, learning basic welding skills and safety.
Hallam says the kids leave with cool projects to show for their work.
The program is free to the students, thanks to the funding. The second camp happens at the end of August – and you can get in touch with Mike at VIU if you are interested in participating.
