A little bit of pressure will be off the ratepayers in the south end sewer system in the CVRD, the City of Duncan and Muncipality of North Cowichan.
That’s thanks to 6 million dollars of gas tax funding for the relocation of the sewage treatment plant and effluent outfall from the Cowichan River to the Satellite Channel.
Chair of the CVRD and Mayor of North Cowichan, Jon Lefebure says the price tag on the total project is 27 million dollars….
Lefebure says 13 million dollars is already in reserves for the project which he hopes gets underway in 2018.
The Town of Lake Cowichan is also getting some cash from the gas tax fund.
5 million dollars will be used to upgrade the water treatment plant.
