Hotel fire suspicious

Nanaimo RCMP is investigating that late night fire Monday that destroyed the Cassidy Inn, south of the City.
Police say the fire is considered suspicious and investigators are trying to determine the cause.
Tom Armet, manager of Building and Bylaw Services with the Regional District of Nanaimo says the District Board had declared the building unsafe and the owner had been directed to demolish the building and secure the property.
He says even though the building burnt down, the order still stands…..
The three story building, which is owned by a company from the Vancouver area, was reduced to rubble with only the foundation left intact.
