Youth look for safe place
Youth in the Cowichan Valley are asking for a space where they feel safe and welcome.
Places for Youth in the Cowichan Valley is a youth-designed project intended to create just that. Safer Futures Project Coordinator Christy Villiers says this project has been in the works since 2011 – where they worked with the Community Advisory Committee to make youth safety a priority.
Between 2012 and 2014, Safe Youth Cowichan conducted Youth Safety Dialogues with over 500 youth in the Valley to find out what safety means to them, and what would help them feel safer.
