Woman wakes to unknown man in her house

There was a brazen Break and Enter while the homeowner slept in a house on Herd Road back on July 9th.
Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP say around 3:30 in the morning, the homeowner woke to the sound of footsteps and a light switch turning on.
She discovered a man standing in her home.
He ran off as soon as he was confronted and is not believed to have managed to steal anything.

Corporal Krista Hobday says the homeowner did everything right by locking her doors and windows but the would-be thief pried open a window and managed to squeeze in.

There’s little information to go on, but the suspect is described as a slender man, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall.

As a result of the break in police are encouraging homeowners to reinforce their locks and anti-theft devices on their doors and windows to discourage thieves.
