VIU Offers New Course Focusing On Refugees

A new VIU English course, focusing on refugees, is open to members of the community at large.
Dr. Katharina Rout, the English professor who will be teaching it, says she developed the course in response to the growing numbers of refugees who now call Vancouver Island home.

Rout says the course will focus on works from writers, many of them refugees, who talk about perilous journeys out of Afghanistan or Syria, across the Sahara or the Mediterranean.
