Man Dies After Falling on Nanaimo Bus

A 56 year old man is dead after the bus he was on stopped suddenly to avoid a collision. The Nanaimo man fell from his seat and struck his head on the floor.
Police say the local transit bus was going westbound along Labieux Road when a pick up truck towing a trailer, exiting the Mid-island Co-op parking lot turned in front of the bus. To avoid a collision, the bus driver braked hard.
The unconscious man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Constable Gary O’Brien says the pick up truck did not stop, and may not even be aware of what transpired. RCMP would like to speak to the driver of the pick up truck. They believe it is an older model, possibly a Dodge, towing a trailer with FLOORING lettering along the side.
The incident happened around 5pm on Friday.
