New hospice home in Duncan gets a boost

The Cowichan Hospice Society is a little closer to their goal for a new hospice home in Duncan, thanks to a large donation.
The Cowichan Lodge Auxiliary handed over 21 thousand dollars for the project. Hospice Society Executive Director Gretchen Hartley says palliative care in the Cowichan Valley needs much improvement.
Hartley says the auxiliary hopes their donation will encourage others to take notice and donate to the worthy cause.
Island Health has committed operational funding for seven beds, as part of the province’s commitment to double hospice beds by 2020.
