In time for the long weekend, campfire ban lifted

The campfire ban has been lifted for the entire Coastal Fire Centre region.
Fire Information officer Donna MacPherson says campfires will now be allowed on the south island as well.
She says officials are still asking people to be cautious if they have a campfire this weekend…
MacPherson says the centre is also keeping an eye out for lightning-caused fires that may pop up in the coming days.
Anyone who spots a fire or a column of smoke is asked to report it immediately.
