Dog injured when two pick ups collide

A family pet sustained life threatening injuries when the truck it was travelling in collided with another pick up truck in Nanaimo.
Police say the small dog was injured when the airbags deployed as it sat on the driver’s lap.
The accident happened yesterday (Thurs) afternoon at the intersection of Wilgress and Northfield Road.
No one esle was hurt when the two pick up trucks collided.
Police believe the driver of the truck, who had the dog on his lap, failed to yield as he turned onto Northfield Road.
Constable Gary O’Brien says pets should never be allowed to sit on driver’s laps, it’s a distraction and puts the animal in harm’s way.
