Local Labour Day Celebrations

This year’s local Labour Day picnic is taking place at Transfer Beach in Ladysmith today (Mon) from 11 to 2.
As many as 500 people are expected to turn out for the event which features a free barbecue, music, speeches and prizes.
President of the Nanaimo-Duncan and District Labour Council, Ellen Oxman says there are a couple of hot button issues the council is working on including the “Fight for 15″…..
Universal child care is another issue supported by labour groups.
