Parliamentarians returned to work today, after a 12-week summer vacation. The federal government is expected to have tough decisions ahead, including creating a national climate change plan, and negotiating a new health accord with the provinces. A fiscal update is also expected in November.
Cowichan Langford Malahat MP Alistair McGregor says he enjoyed reconnecting with constituents during the summer, and hosting town halls on climate change, the trans-pacific partnership and electoral reform.
He says he plans on returning to the riding every weekend for the first five weeks of the session, as he has a number of events that he wants to participate in.
After a summer meeting with constituents and recharging, NDP MP for Nanaimo Ladysmith is back in Ottawa.
Shiela Malcolmson says she’s hoping to see some positive changes going forward….
Malcolmson says she expects to hear discussions on climate change, legislation on pay equity, violence against women, abandoned vessels and initiatives that would foster jobs in our region.
