The City of Duncan is renaming Canada Avenue Park in honour of former and current Japanese Canadian residents in the region.
Councillor Sharon Jackson says the park is located near former homes and market gardens of Japanese residents who lived in this area before they were interned during World War II.
The Consul General Okai from Vancouver, and former residents from across Canada will be in attendance for the unveiling of Heiwa Park on Friday.
The park is located at the base of the stairs to Cairnsmore Street on Canada Ave.
