Summer Upgrades at the Hub

Volunteers and residents have been busy over the summer, working together to bring large improvements to the Hub at Cowichan Station, including the opening of the new child care facility.
Crews have been at work over the past couple months on a 92 thousand dollar exterior renovations project, making the grounds more welcoming, accessible, and safe by upgrading the schoolhouse, creating an outdoor welcome shelter, and improving lighting, pathways, parking and signage.
President of the Cowichan Station Area Association Jill Thompson says this was all possible through a combination of federal and provincial grants, and community fundraising.
Their next big project is opening up two upstairs rooms at the hub – which requires more fundraising and volunteer hours. They are hosting a volunteer coffeehouse on Saturday from 10 to 12 at the hub rec room.
