SFU Launches First Responders Trauma Prevention Recovery Program

First responders can now find help for mental health issues in BC.

Simon Fraser University lauched their new First Responders Trauma Prevention and Recovery Program, with over 60 people enrolled.

The University’s director of career and professional programs Larry White says the course provides an opportunity for first responders to learn about how trauma impacts them and what they can do to support themselves in a mental health perspective.

He says it also teaches them how to overcome the stigma and issues like addiction and suicide.

The program began this fall as a series of online part-time courses.
