Drug Awareness Event in the Cowichan Valley This Weekend

A former Duncan resident is trying to raise awareness about drug use and the difficulties addicts face when trying to get help.
Doug Mackenzie owns two treatment centres in the province, and is hoping to give back to the Cowichan Valley by hosting an awareness event with representatives from treatment centres, and other experts. He says navigating through the process of getting help is not easy.
Mackenzie is hosting the educational event at Oceanfront Suites in Cowichan Bay on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
He is offering an 18 thousand dollar package at one of his treatment centres to someone from Duncan who can’t afford help. Other treatment centres have since gotten on board with Mackenzie’s idea and will also offer treatment packages to someone in need. More information will be available on Saturday.
