Nanaimo Man Bear Sprayed At Local Park

A Nanaimo man was bear sprayed in the face, then had his pack sacks stolen by a group of teens as he sat in a local park.
The incident took place around 8pm on Thursday, near the picnic shelter in Bowen Park.
Nanaimo RCMP say the 46 year old was relaxing on a park bench when a group of male and female youth approached. One man made small talk with him, then without warning, he was attacked with the bear spray. The group ran off in the direction of Howard Ave cemetary with his bags.
RCMP says the suspect with the bear spray is described as a white man in his early twenties with light coloured short hair. Police dogs were able to find one bag but a black bag with colourful stars is still missing.
