Critics Say Provincial Special Needs Funding Isn’t Enough

The province is sending one million dollars in special needs funding to select private schools butĀ one group says the moveĀ smacks of elitism.
That’s according to the group, Action for Equitable Access to Education.
Tracy Humphries says the funding, which will go to 500 special needs students in 15 Special Education Schools, leaves more than 50,000 other students in the public system without the advantage….
Andrea Kennedy, a spokesperson for BCEDAccess says, with the funding,Ā the government isĀ moving further toward a two-tiered education program, one for those who can afford quality education and one for those who are relegated to an under-resourced public system.
