Island Health warns of “death cap” mushroom

A highly poisonous mushroom, not normally found on the Island, or in BC, seems to have made it’s way here.
Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Richard Stanwick is warning wild mushroom pickers of the appearance of the “death cap” mushroom….
Stanwick says an individual in Victoria is in hospital as a result of consuming the “death cap” mushroom that was on a property in downtown Victoria.
Stanwick says the mushrooms, which were removed from the property, were enough to kill 12 people.
He’s warning recreational wild mushroom pickers to use extreme caution.
