BC Hydro is currently dealing with widespread power outages across the Cowichan Valley.
As of 5pm, approximately 9,000 homes are effected in Lake Cowichan, North Cowichan, Duncan and Shawnigan Lake.
BC Hydro Spokesman Ted Olynyk says in storms like this, people should prepare for up to 3 days without power.
Olynyk says crews have been pre-deployed to areas that are expected to see most damage in Saturday’s storm.
 If you see a downed power line, call 911 immediately, and stay 10 metres back.
