Residents not happy about proposed development

North Cowichan Council will be faced with a controversial decision, as they debate the proposed rezoning of 3 lots on Donnay Drive. The rezoning from residential rural to new comprehensive development would allow the development of a 29-lot subdivision.
Maple Bay Road resident Marilyn Palmer says much of the neighbourhood believes this type of development does not belong in this location, as it violates the character of the area.
Project Manager Jeff Tomlinson with J.E. Anderson and Associates says the new development would fit within what is already happening in that area in terms of development and density. He says environmental impact will be minimal.
North Cowichan Council will debate and vote on the adoption of the bylaw at a special council meeting Friday at 11:30am.
