RCMP seek witnesses to fatal collision

RCMP are asking anyone, who may have witnessed the accident on the Malahat yesterday (Thurs) to call.
Around 5 o’clock the Shawnigan Lake RCMP, BC Ambulance and Malahat Fire Department were called to a collision about 3 kilometers south of the Shawnigan Lake exit on the TransCanada Highway.
A preliminary investigation suggests a red Dodge Caravan had, in an attempt to cross the highway to turn into a residential complex, pulled out from the northbound right shoulder of the road into the path of a northbound white Chevrolet pickup truck.
The vehicles collided and ended up facing north on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes.

Both drivers were taken to hospital and one of them has since succumbed to his injuries.
