Cowichan School District Short on Education Assistants Due To Growth

Due to increased growth in the Cowichan School District, the board is dealing with a shortage of Education Assistants.
Board Chair Candace Spilsbury says the district was prepared for an increase of approximately 50 students, but welcomed 200 new students this school year.
There were 20 available positions at the beginning of the school year, with some jobs still not filled.
Spilsbury added that they are happy to see continued growth and the board is looking at ways to accommodate the expanding district in the future.
