Blue Green Algae Advisory Remains in Quamichan Lake

As many as four dogs have died after ingesting water from Quamichan Lake, currently covered in blue-green algae blooms.
Dr. Paul Hasselback with Island Health says the number one thing to remember is stay away from any waterways affected by the blue-green algae.
Hasselback says its our responsibility to keep pets and children away from affected areas.
The Municipality of North Cowichan has posted signs around the lake to warn people of the dangers of the natural toxin.
