North Cowichan Back Tracks on Donnay Drive Development

A 39-unit housing development on Donnay Drive is on hold after North Cowichan Council rescinded third reading of a rezoning bylaw to allow for more public consultation.
The developed was opposed by a group of surrounding neighbours, who say they are happy that council is paying attention to what the community is asking for. Marilyn Palmer is part of the Quamichan Lake Neighbourhood Association, and says this decision should not be painted as a win-lose situation.
Several neighbours opposed the development, saying the high density housing will destroy the iconic character of the mainly rural Maple Bay neighbourhood.
