Trial following cyclist fatality underway

The man accused of striking and killing a Comox Valley cyclist has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing death.
The trial is underway this week in Courtenay provincial court.
Cyclist Paul Bally was riding on the old island highway on December 15, 2014 when he was hit by a southbound vehicle – he died of his injuries before being found by his wife, who went out searching for him when he failed to arrive home.
The driver failed to stop at the scene – a suspect was taken into custody after a tip to CrimeStoppers.
The trail is expected to run into next week.
