Literacy is more than math, reading, writing and spelling

Literacy Now Cowichan has received a 5,000 dollar donation from the Duncan Lions Club.
Executive Director of Literacy Now, Kathleen Erickson says the cash injection will be used to help some 250 Cowichan Region adult learners each year with free one-to-one literacy lessons with trained volunteer tutors.
Erickson says literacy is a lot more than reading, writing, spelling and math, the program also helps people learn how to use their cell phones and work with computers…..
Erickson says Literacy Now, not only works with long time residents of the Cowichan Valley, but newcomers, who need help with the English language can also get the help they need.
