Bravery Award for local boys

Queen Margrets School Grade 8 student Ethan Milne and his two step brothers (Brennan and Connor Lund) are genuine heroes.

Last summer while travelling with the family they stopped at Kalamaka Lake near Vernon. And while playing in the water the boys heard some calls for help.

They saw roughly 200 metres of shore a flipped canoe and three people struggling in the water. Without hesitation they swam out to help.

They were able to save all three.

This past weekend the boys were recognized for their selfless act; they received the Lifesaving Society silver Medal for Bravery.

Ethan says even after receiving the award, he still doesn’t feel like a hero.

He says this experience has sparked something in him. He says he wouldn’t mind becoming a lifeguard, or an ambulance driver.
