Teachers bargaining update from the province

The province says salaries, the duration of the contract, class size and composition are the main negotiating points as the discussions with teachers on a new collective agreement continues.

Peter Cameron is the chief negotiator for the BC Public School Employer’s Association.

As far as a general wage increase goes, Cameron says teachers are asking for 13 and a half per cent over 3 years….

A COLA, is a cost of living allowance.

The province is offering one point 5 per cent in year one, zero in year 2, one per cent in the third year and three years of one point 5 per cent each with the possibility of an economic stability dividend.
