The Cowichan Valley School District got 718 thousand dollars from the province to hire additional teachers for the rest of this school year.
This in response to a recent Supreme Court decision around class size and composition.
Superintendent Rod Allen says the funding translates into approximately 17 additional teaching positions.
An announcement about long-term funding for teacher hiring is expected once the Ministry of Education and BC Teachers Federation finalize an agreement.
