The deadline for landowners to submit properties to be considered for a potential new hospital site is looming.

Cowichan Valley Regional Hospital District will be closing their “expression of interest” window today.

The Expression of Interest follows a Request for Proposals and public meetings, in which both a real estate expert was identified to assist in the process and a site criterion was adopted.

In October, the CVRHD announced plans were in the works to identify properties that would fit into long term plans for the eventual replacement of Cowichan District Hospital.

The Cowichan Valley has been identified by Island Health as an area in which a new hospital is needed, and rather than waiting for the Ministry of Health to agree with Island Health’s capital request for a new Hospital, the CVRHD wanted to make sure that a property was sent a side.

Landowners in the Cowichan Valley have been given several months to submit properties to the CVRHD. Deadline is 2:00 today.
