Help for victims

It’s victims of crime awareness week in Canada…

It’s also a chance for the public to learn more about the people working to help those victims, like the RCMP Victim Services program.

Professionals and volunteers working through RCMP offer victims things like emotional support, information on what’s happening with the court process, and help writing victim impact statements.

Erin Pollock of Nanaimo RCMP Victim Services says the public doesn’t usually know they exist until they’re needed.

As well as helping fund the Victim Services program the Ministry of Justice runs VictimLink – a toll free support line – at 1-800-563-0808
