Passenger killed in weekend car crash identified

The BC Coroners Service has released the name of the passenger killed in Sunday’s car crash on the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) south of Duncan.

22- year old Zachery Tharren Mikey Cross of Port Alberni died at the scene, after the vehicle he was riding in left the highway and collided with a power pole at the Intersection of Bench Road and the TCH.

Three people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The male driver was taken to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries. The female in the back seat suffered minor injuries.

RCMP said it appears fatigue may have been a contributing factor in the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.
