ICBC Road Safety speaker bares soul to Island students

Heather Charlton was 19-years old when her life changed forever. Charlton was involved in a horrific crash that killed her best friend and injured two passengers. She now travels the province speaking to high school students hoping to help them avoid making the same mistake she did.

Car crashes remain the number one preventable cause of death for youth in B.C. and distracted driving is the leading factor in youth crashes resulting in injuries or death.

Charlton will be sharing her story with students on Vancouver Island in April and May, beginning with Brentwood College and Francis Kelsey Monday.

Her tour includes stops at Chemainus Secondary, Lake Cowichan Secondary and QMS the 23rd and 24th of April.
