Property taxes set for Lake Cowichan

The residents of Lake Cowichan will see a 3% increase in their property taxes.

Council adopted the increase during a budgetary meeting Tuesday.

Mayor Ross Forrest says the increase won’t come as a surprise, as the past couple of years they’ve had to dip into reserves for various projects.

Also included in the 2014 budget is money for a new town centre that, Ross says will eventually be a crown jewel for the community.
