Vancouver Island mayors to press issues with the feds

There’s strength in numbers.

That’s the idea behind a new working group created by Vancouver Island mayors, including Nanaimo’s John Ruttan and Parksville’s Chris Burger.

Port Alberni Mayor John Douglas says they’re planning to lobby for some major projects on the Island and it’s the federal government’s attention they’re after. Douglas says Island projects don’t get the same treatment as projects on the Lower Mainland

Douglas says transportation is one of the areas requiring more support, including the push to restore passenger rail service on the Island.
