Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film and Art will celebrates 10-years

The Cowichan Aboriginal Festival of Film and Art will celebrate their 10th anniversary this week.

Louise McMurray festival director said over that time the festival has grown into a globally recognized event.

The festival kicks off April 22, with a Coast Salish Welcome Dinner at the Quwutsun Cultural Centre.

McMurray said this will be the public’s first chance to experience this year’s theme which is Four Nations-Four Directions.

That theme carries over throughout the five-day festival.

The festival art show: Four Nations-Four Directions has been set up in the lobby of the Cowichan Aquatic Centre. Films will be shown at three different venues: VIU lecture hall; Cowichan Theater; Island Savings Centre boardroom.
