Earthquake rattles northern tip of Island

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake rattled roughly 91 kilometers off the southern coast off Port Hardy around 8 o’clock last night.

Some minor rumbling was felt throughout the Comox Valley, but up in Port Hardy, Mayor Bev Parnham says it was more severe than that…..

Parnham says there are no reports of damage so far, although she does say that smaller coastal communities might have been hit a little harder.

This is the biggest quake to rattle the region since a 7.7 one shook the nearby Haida Gwaii region in October of 2012.
