The Lawyer for the Shawnigan Residents Association says information surrounding the permit granted to South Island Aggregates to dump contaminated soil near the watershed is rife with inconsistencies.
Sean Hern says an expert witness from associated engineering presented evidence at the hearing that suggests not only did the project lack proper engineering blue prints, but that the water treatment facility on the property was not capable of handling salts in the soil that have already been dumped.
And, Hern says the mapping of wells done by the province doesn’t match up with where wells actually are.
The hearing has been extended to June 6th
