Alexander School Gets $45,000 Literacy Grant

Students, teachers and staff at Alexander Elementary School were treated to a surprise when the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation stormed their school with a cheque for 45 thousand dollars!
Principal Dani Morrow says they were expecting a follow up interview with the foundation, when they heard clapping, noise makers and a whole lot of commotion enter the school. She says the money will be used to help revitalize the aging library.
The average age of the current book collection is 21 years old, and some are damaged and outdated.

She says it was really great to see all the students get excited about literacy.

Morrow says there will also be some money left from the grant to ensure each classroom gets some new books to add to their collection.
The 45 thousand dollars will come to the school over a 3 year period.
