The Ladysmith RCMP and North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are investigating an online Snapchat threat to a school in Chemanius.
Police say, in the post, a youth was shown holding a hand gun and stating something to the effect of “Don’t go to school today”.
The gun was later determined to be an air soft gun.
A 17 year old youth from Ladysmith has been arrested and is facing charges.
Police have a visible presence at the school today to provide support and ensure that the students feel safe.
In the meantime, the RCMP are reminding parents to speak to their kids about the consequences of making threats.
