A big donation for Shawnigan school

Shawnigan Lake School is the recipient of the largest gift ever given to a Canadian independent school.

Jim and Kathryn Shaw, of the Shaw Communications fortune, have donated 19-million to the school.

Headmaster David Roberston says 11-million has been allocated towards the construction of a new library, while 8-million will be put towards their endowment fund.

Jim Shaw attended Shawnigan Lake School and graduated in 1977 while his wife Kathryn sits on the Board of Governors.
