Residential Camping Still An Issue In Waterfront Communities

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is reminding the public that camping in residential areas is not allowed.
They receive an increase in complaints of people pitching tents or setting up RVs in residential areas of waterfront communities like Lake Cowichan and Shawnigan Lake.
Manager of Bylaw Enforcement Rob Blackmore says even if you are on private property, it’s still prohibited.
Blackmore says residents in these neighbourhoods are often frustrated by the noise, garbage and sewer disposal and increased traffic caused by these seasonal campers.
