Coastal Fire Centre Prepared For Wildfire Activity

The Coastal Fire Centre says they are fully prepared to respond to wildfire activity should it happen here.
Although some resources are being deployed to the Interior to help fight the large fires there, Fire Information Officer Donna MacPherson says sufficient firefighters and equipment will remain in the region.
MacPherson says every fire zone within the Coastal Fire Centre has its initial attack crews on maximum standby readiness.
At latest count, the Coastal Fire Centre has sent 3 unit crews, 5 initial attack crews and a group of individual resources to the Interior to help battle the large wildfires.
MacPherson says so far, there have been 54 fires on the coast, with 51 being human caused.
