Low Tide Day means it is time to clean up

A simultaneous, global beach clean-up is set for Cowichan Bay.

Low Tide Day is Saturday and it is an international event where communities around the world celebrate the same low tide on the same day by cleaning up their shores.

Chair of the event Jeff Quinton says the day begins at 9:30 at Kil-Pah-Las Beach beside the ocean front suites with registration and instructions.

Following a few hours of hard work, “cleaner-uppers” as Quinton calls them, will be invited to take part in a lunch and a whole host of family activities.

Over the years this event has cleaned up more than 16-tons trash has been collected.
