If you pack it in, pack it out

Hitting the road for the great outdoors is a May long weekend tradition. But, unfortunately, with the increased volume of campers, hikers and all-around outdoor enthusiasts comes the increase in garbage dumping in the bush.

In years past, CVRD have had to clean up trash from campers and others that don’t practice the carry in; carry out rule.

By law enforcement officer Brian Duncan says for those that decide they don’t want to respect the great outdoors, penalties  will ensue and fines can range for different offenses…

Duncan says they have become pretty good at tracking down people who decide to dump garbage or leave their trash where they camp.

You can also play your part by reporting violations you see by calling  the CVRD hotline at (250)-746-2600.
